SmartCells Gymnasium floors reduce injury and improve performanceThe first SmartCells gymnasium surface was installed at the Puget Sound Christian College (PSCC) in Edmonds, Washington. Sports researchers, high school and college basketball players, as well as five NBA teams have tested the SmartCells court. Test results indicate a clear preference for SmartCells over traditional hardwood floors. The PSCC court also costs less to maintain and has been shown to reduce injuries compared to wood floors.

Here is what the facilities director at PSSC has to say: "What continues to amaze me is the superior cushioning properties SmartCells provide without sacrificing player or ball performance characteristics in the least bit. The basketball coach says he cannot remember a floor-related injury since this SmartCells court has been installed and that knee and back injuries have virtually been eliminated.

After maintaining the SmartCells court through five seasons, I can tell you without question that the maintenance costs have been much less compared to its predecessor wood floor. We have not refinished this floor in any way and it does not appear to need any type of refinishing at this time. I expect that the surface will continue to perform well through many more seasons. We have not been gentle on it either; scaffolding and other potentially damaging equipment has been moved over this floor on a regular basis."
